Bike the Kingdom

Check out our Video Slide Show – Tour de Kingdom

In 2021 we are offering four days of riding:  Our three-day Tour de Kingdom including The Moose, a 103 mile “timed event” on wide open roads in June and our one-day Fly to Pie, a 26.2 mile “timed event” on mostly dirt roads through “The Gut” of the Kingdom in October during Fall Foliage season.

Each of the three days of the June Tour will be small group, socially distanced events.  Ridership will be limited to 50 on Friday, 100 on Saturday’s Moose, and 50 on Sunday.

Vermont currently allows cross border travel without quarantine if you have been vaccinated.

Friday, June 11, 2021 — Ride Around Lake Memphremagog: This ride is a favorite of our local Kingdom Velo Group – In 2010 we added this ride and folks really love it — a guided tour around Lake Memphremagog with stops at Georgeville, Magog, The Abby, and Mansonville. This 80 mile route is a great way to “warm up” for the weekend. Or do it as a stand-alone day and forget the rest. But, you better bring your passport! It involves International Travel and is just so much fun. We also offer a shorter ride up to Georgeville and back. We meet at The EastSide Restaurant, 47 Landing Street, Newport, Vermont at 8:00 am and leave at 8:30 am.

Note: if the border has not opened we will switch courses to our Orleans Central Route from Newport, through Barton and Greensboro and back north through Irasburg.

Saturday, June 13, 20120 – The Moose .  We gather at Mike’s Tiki Bar in East Burke at 8 am with a start at 8:30  am.  We head north up Route 114 through Island Pond to Norton and Canaan and then down Route 102, one of the most beautiful and serene stretches of the Connecticut River, before returning to Island Pond and then back to East Burke.  Here’s a link to Saturday’s Century Course Map.  For those looking to ride a shorter distance (66 miles), we start at Island Pond at 9:30 am and just do the Norton, Canaan, Bloomfield “Moose Loop.”

THE MOOSE, is a “timed event,” with some great prizes and wonderful spirit.  These roads are wide and “car hungry”.  Racers must obey all of the rules of the road.  That means you have to stop at all stop signs.  But, hey, there are only two in the entire 103 miles.

Sunday, June 14, 20120– Legendary Lake Region.  8:30am start.  At Mike’s Tiki Bar.  The route takes you through the legendary lake region of the Northeast Kingdom – by Willoughby, Crystal, Seymour and Island Pond before bringing you back to East Burke.  We offer two options that bring you along the shores of Lake Willoughby and either Crystal Lake or Lake Seymour.  Here’s the link to maps of each.
