If you like to kayak, if you like an adventure, and if you want to support a world class swim on Lake Memphremagog on July 30th this summer, we hope you’ll sign up and join us as an escort kayaker for one of our many swimmers.
Each year, Kingdom Swim draws hundreds of swimmers, yackers, friends and family from all over North America as well as places such as Ireland, England, Scotland, India, UAE, and Saudi Arabia. Kingdom Swim has been selected as one of the top 100 swims in the entire world by Open Water Source. It’s a great swim and a great celebration of summer in the heart of the Northeast Kingdom.
We have openings for “yackers” in the 3, 6, 10, and 15 mile swims. As kayaker, you provide navigation support, feed and hydrate your swimmer on regular intervals, and, in the event of swimmer distress, you provide him or her with a personal flotation device and signal to our motorized patrol boats who will come and pull any swimmer who needs that kind of help. If you’ve never escorted a swimmer, we are happy to help educate you further.
We will provide lodging at a local residence, a boat tour of the course on Friday afternoon, dinner on Friday night and lunch on Saturday. We will provide you with a stipend of $50 (if you need us to provide a kayak for your use) or $65 if you bring your own kayak. You can use your stipend to cover incidental expenses or donate it to a charity of your choice.
We also have need for kayakers to support swimmers throughout the summer.
