Do we have winter in the Kingdom or what. Ice out in front of The Eastside Restaurant 2 to 3 feet thick makes for perfect conditions. We bring out the trucks and clear a 750 meter skating oval and a bunch of hockey rinks and we figure to have some fun, If conditions are right, we’ll clear some Nordic skating trails up the lake into Derby Bay to the Canadian border. In 2014 we were able to plow all the way to Magog, 25 miles. Now that was an adventure extraordinaire.
This year’s mild winter has been crazy. But the ice is black and smooth, when we can get out on it to clear it. We had to postpone the Memphremagog Marathon a couple of weeks because of the “soft” weather.

We will also be maintaining the skating oval for as long as we can between January 15th and March 15th. We post daily reports as to the condition of the ice on our facebook page, Memphremagog Ice Skating Club.
