January 1, 2022 – Get off the Couch hosted by Memphremagog Trails. Free day to come check out this wonderful trail system. January 17, 2022 – Full (Wolf) Moon Let your inner wolf run wild and join the pack for an evening of X-country skiing, snowshoeing, or fat bike riding on these moonlight illuminated trails. Followed by a burning of the greens. Bring your trees, wreathes and garland and we’ll wave them goodbye into the moonlit sky. Hosted by Memphremagog Trails. Time 6pm. Parking in the MT lot. February 16, 2022 – Full Moon Outing to Top of the World hosted by Memphremagog Trails. Bring your x-country skis or snowshoes and embark on an evening trek though a beautiful sugar bush, to reach this impressive hill top destination. From Top of the World you’ll see spectacular Lake Memphremagog surrounded by the international nightlights in the valley below. Time 6PM. Parking at Haynes Land Lab (off Upper Quarry Rd). February 19, 2022 – Wild and Wholly Snowshoe Race hosted by Northwoods Stewardship Center. hosted by Northwoods Stewardship. Experienced athletes and novices alike are welcomed to explore our gorgeous groomed trail system this winter with a revived and rejuvenated take on a classic event. We will be hosting a 5K and 10K snowshoe race as well as a 1K fun run/walk. The 5K and 10K will be a loop course, where the 10K is two loops of the 5K. Prizes will be given to overall winners in the race. The 1K fun run will take place in front of our lodge after the 5k. Time 8 am to 5 pm. February 26, 2022 – Newport City Winterfest – Wintertime activities at Prouty Beach and Gardner Park, Broomball. ice skating, sledding, snow and ice sculpting, fire works, and more. For more information: Newport City Winterfest.
February 26-27, 2022 – Memphremagog Winter Swim Festival – Hosted by Kingdom Games with the support of the EastSide Restaurant in downtown Newport. May 21, 2022 – Dandelion Run hosted by Kingdom Games is a challenging half marathon running race mostly on dirt roads through the world famous Dandelion Fields in Morgan, Holland, and Derby during High Spring in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Musicians are sprinkled throughout the course and back at the Derby Beach House. 10 km 4 mile and 2 mile options make The Dandy accessible to all types of runners and walkers. Dandy Pasta Dinner at The EastSide Restaurant in Newport kicks things off on Friday before the run. It’s May! It’s Time to Run! Just for the Fun of It! For more information see Dandelion Run
June 11, 2022 – The Moose hosted by Kingdom Games. A 103 mile road cycling race from Mike’s Tiki Bar in East Burke through Island Pond, Bloomsfield, Canaan, Norton, and back through Island Pond, finishing at Mike’s Tiki Bar. Shorter 66 mile option starts and finishes at the Essex County Historical Society and Essex House Tavern in Island Pond. For more information: The Moose
June 18, 2022 – The LAT45 Challenge presented by North Country Hospital is a unique paddle-run-bike event held in the heart of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. The race course is not only beautiful, but also crosses the 45th latitude twice! The race begins with a 2 mile kayak. The kayak then transitions into a 2.5 mile run. The race finishes with a 12 mile bike ride. Proceeds will benefit local residents living with diabetes.

July 4, 2022 – Harry Corrow Freedom Run hosted by Kingdom Games with the support of the City of Newport and Memphremagog Trails. 10 mile, 10 km, 5 km and 1 mile distances, starting at Prouty Beach, through the Bluff Farm, on the Newport-Derby Bike Path and on the Memphremagog Trails.
July 17 to 22, 2022 – Swim Tech Camp hosted by BrynnSwim and Intrepid Swimming. A six-day, technique based camp for open water swimmers with intense coaching and practicing on Lake Memphremagog. For more information: Swim Tech Camp
July 23, 2022 – Kingdom Swim hosted by Kingdom Games and the Northeast Kingdom Open Water Swimming Association. At Prouty Beach on Lake Memphremagog. Includes the 25 km Border Buster, the Great 10 Mile Race, and shorter distances of 10 km, 5 km, and 1 Mile. A full weekend celebrating open water swimming. NO LANES – NO LINES – NO LIMITS

August 6 – 14, 2022 – NEK Swim Week hosted by Kingdom Games and the Northeast Kingdom Open Water Swimming Association. Swim 8 lakes over the course of 9 days totaling 46 Miles. Crystal, Island Pond, Massawippi, Seymour, Echo, Memphremagog, Willoughby and Caspian. Swim one. Swim a few. Swim them all. For more information: NEK Swim Week

September 17th 2022 – The Northeast Kingdom Marathon hosted by the Town of Brighton is a FREE USATF certified self-supported half/full marathon designed to support Island Pond – a small former railroad town nestled deep within the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Following the lead of the innovative Millinocket Marathon – runners who participate are asked to be generous and support the Island Pond community and surrounding region in every way possible. October 1, 2022 – Fly to Pie Kingdom Marathon. Run, Bike, or Walk. Hosted by Kingdom Games with the support of Lakeview Aviation and Parker Pie Co. A challenging, full marathon run largely on dirt roads through “The Gut” of the Kingdom at the height of Fall Foliage, with all the pizza you can eat, music, and great beer on tap at the after party. Shorter distances include the 17 Mile Iconoclast, the 13.5 Mile Half Marathon, and the 10 km Run/Walk. For more information see: Fly to Pie
Fall 2022 – Grateful- A Mixed-Terrain Bike Race Event. This spectacular one of a kind event was founded by Rasputitsa in 2021. It brought over 300 riders from all over the US to the area. This hugely successful event has now been gifted to Memphremagog Trails, who will host in 2022. Details and date will be posted as soon as they are available.
